Running boards removed Looks WAY better!

I've been contemplating whether or not to remove my running boards for a while and after seeing all of the posts on here w/out 'em I said, "To hell with it, I'm doing it!" I received my new front mud flaps yesterday and installed them in 15 minutes, including running board removal.
Just FYI I have a 2000 4Runner SR5 with black textured fender flares and the correct part #'s are ...

PT413-35966-DF (driver front)
PT413-35966-PF (passenger front)

$73.90 Total with shipping from Olathe Toyota.

I know many people have posted regarding this but I too was confused as which ones I needed. Hope this helps someone.

Up next...
TrXus XT 255/85R16 or 265/75R16 will be next on 5 spokes.
JC Whitney has 'em right now for $141 each delivered!
Use code: FRSHP50 offer good until 8/12/2008

BTW if anyone needs some SR5 running boards I've a got a pair in good condition.

Nice runner! Looks much better without the running boards. Are you running the stock suspension?

Sorry for taking so long to get back with you, I forgot to subscribe to this thread.
Nope, I'm running front Tundra springs, rear Downey springs and Old Man Emu shocks all around. I love it. I've also installed Airlift rear air bags for towing. I just need to make up my mind about tire size now...265/75 or 255/85 ?!?!?!?!

I've also fabricated some sliders recently and I think it looks WAY better now. I'll post pics soon.

P-Lo,
I am looking at getting 265/75 when it comes time to get some new meats. I had a quick question though, do you think those mud flaps will fit a LIMITED model but same year? I was thinking of putting those on after I remove the running boards. Thanks.

Sweet post!

I'm so glad you've got the part numbers on those babies, I've been wanting a pair forever.

Austin,
Nope, I'm 100% pretty sure these will NOT fit the Limited flare/ trim lines. Our trucks have different trim lines due to the Limited style flares which are bigger than the SR5's. It seems that most guys use a generic rubber mud flap (AutoZone, Napa, etc.)that is cut to accent their style, and then they bolt it to their body some how. Try a search on here and/or google. That's how I found and then confirmed the part numbers for mine. Hope that helps.

I was planning on the TrXus M/T 255/85's for the price and look, BUT BFG now has the new M/T KM2 in both 255/85 & 265/75 so I'm not sure any more. I've still got a month or two or three till my current tires are fully worn. I do want some new treads for my trips to Tahoe this winter...CAN'T WAIT!

94Runner4x4, Thanks! I wasn't sure if I was going to like them as much as I do. They make the 4Runner really look like a truck and less of a soccer mom and now they don't hang up on stuff any more.

I'd go with 255's (33's) instead of 265's (32's). You *might* have to bend back the pinch welds, but other than that, you should be good to go. That's the size I will be going with after my lift.

I was thinking the same thing. I've been trying to get the other guys on here to submit their 255/85 photos to add some peer pressure to my decision. Yup, that's what I've been told too...pinch weld mod if any. Thanks for the encouragment.

The new KM2's look awesome. Look at the Toyo MT's, too.

I am new to the forums, I have been trying to figure out what the parts numbers were for mud guards for my '99 SR5 4Runner.

Will these parts numbers that are listed also work for a 1999 4Runner?

Thanks!!

Yup. If your fender flares look like the ones in the picture you're good to go. These do NOT work for Limited, Sport or whatever trim has the tiny silver fender thingys, YES for SR5 models from 1996 - 2002. If in doubt contact your local stealership, and have them physically look at your 4Runner and confirm the part number.

Good Times!

Hey thanks so much for posting the pics, I've been looking for a while to see what would happen if I pulled those horrible running boards. Thanks as well for the part numbers, thats going to make my life much easier. When you got the flaps did they mount flush and go right on or did you have to bend/modify them? Looks great BTW!

This is perfect I've been looking and contemplating taking off those running boards. They look good but that little bit of extra clearance that take away can come in handy.

I have also have a 2000 4runner with the fender flares and just wondering, if you take off those running boards and add the front mud flaps can you still fit nerf bars?? I'm wanting a more sporty look and I think most trucks/4Runners look better with the nerf bars...

Thanks,
