1996 4Runner will not start when cold

I have not tried to start my truck for about a week. It has been getting cold out and I go out to start it and it will not start. The battery is good and the stater tries to turn the engine over but it will not go. I keep the 4Runner in the garage and I have replaced the spark plugs and wire recently. The SUV was running fine a week ago and now it will not even start.

I have read posts about it being several hundred dollars worth of stuff to replace and they never seem to have a solution.

When you say "the starter tries to turn the engine over but it will not go", do you mean it keeps turning over but it won't fire up or do you mean the engine won't even turn over?

The engine will not "fire up". you can hear the starter trying but it is like there is no gas in the engine. Could it be that it has been parked for to long?

Got it to start finally and I have a lot of white smoke coming out of it now. Could it be a lot of water in the gas?
