Running Boards Finally Off!

I finally got around this morning to taking off the running boards. I picked up some cheapo ($6.99) mud flaps from Pep Boys and mounted them afterwards.

Looks great Tom.
Instantly makes the rig look much taller.

Nice flappers too.

Yep, I was aware, but these were only $6.99, at least 5 times less than the dealer. And that's if the dealer charges $35 for a set, and not $35 just for one!

Thanks to <96Runner> for sparing my wallet!

This is what my 96 Limited looks like without them:

The side panels looked better than I thought they would just hanging there. Fromt he looks of your color scheme, I think that yours will look even better. I'm looking to paint mine "gun metal grey" at some point.

FYI

Tom submitted to me a write-up awhile ago.
And since I keep a jar of finger lube by the PC at all times, I was able to whip it up and get it uploaded just a bit ago.

Look for it in the Tech section.

Mark,

I love it! I think I'm going to do it to mine if my wife will let me. That looks awesome! The only thing is that I mounted my air compressor on the frame which is now hidden by the steps. I love the way that looks though. Thanks for the pic.

Hey Tom and Mark,

Both rigs look good w/o the boards. I'm going to take them off my Limited too Mark, I like that look. Poor Man's Lift?

But I'm really worried about Corey sliding all over his keyboard with his fingerlube. I've been using AMSOIL products for years and know how slippery they are.

Hello Everyone

I'm new to this board.

When I first got 94 4Runner 2 years ago, I was disapointed that it didn't have running boards. I had no idea what offroad. I'm so glad I never did put them on.

Now I just order a lock Right for the rear and instead of running boards I want sliders. Funny how things change with time.

Glad to see you made it in Andy.

Yep, there was a time a few years ago that I said I'd never take my running boards off as they are the best looking ones out there.

I still think Toyotas have the best looking RBs, but having sliderz now is even cooler

I actually started to remove my running boards this weekend, but due to some corrosion on one of the bolts, managed to strip the head. I'm hoping to get to it soon, and follow up with some Badland toy's sliders.
