Road Dyno Setup

Ok i finally had time to ge tthis road dyno thing hooked up...well its hooked up and working properly, but i have no idea what all the settings should be at? I mean having 1021hp is nice but obveously not what my truck is =]....like what drag should be at and size of front and what not....also the auto tranny setting....gear size....tranny gear size (for each gear)

My truck is a 1996 V6 4x4 Auto stock drivetrain....

Thanks! if yo got similar settings then you can send me the config file i could use. Its fiarly impressive what this thing can do from reading just a spark plug!

Any luck ever getting this setup Johnny? I'm wanting to use it on my Dad's Polaris Ranger XP to do some real world testing.

Wow... Chris, I think you broke the record for bringing back a dead thread.... September 2003 - woo-hoo!

Which box are you trying to setup? I have experience with a couple of them.

Yeah no kidding! Back when I had a S/C on the 4runner I felt a lot more well versed in this stuff, but it's been years. I'm trying to analyze HP, Torque, Acceleration to certain distances, idle, max RPM, max speed on a Polaris Ranger XP side-by-side ATV. 0-60 times don't matter because it doesn't go that fast, but 0-45mph would be nice. The G-tech seems to have the most features, but I also looked at the Road Dyno's and the Ontrack dyno, which appears to have the ability to overlay all the HP/torque maps and pull in which ones you want to overlay based on each run's modifications. I like that a lot and don't know if the other ones do it by their explanations. Does that help to clarify what I'm looking for? Thanks for the help on this Mark.

Oh, the other thing is that I don't think it has a cigarette lighter so I'm not sure on the hookup of the g-tech and passport.

Yeah, I looked at your website. It's nice. I'm might be in touch on some SMT products at some point here in the future.

I will. What's your email by the way. I have some questions for you in regards to the capabilities of the SMT-6

ATV huh? oooooookay!

I'd go with the G-Tech... Nice box, good features, reliable and gives _repeatable_ results (some don't!).

The other option I'd have would be the Auterra software, but it works off of OBD II data - I figure that the ATV doesn't fall into that category.

Have fun man!

None of the G-tech, passport or road dynos will work with a CVT transmission I found out. I'm looking at the following product instead: http://www.veypor.com instead, because it reads the RPM's, plus has a wheel sensor, plus a 3-axis monitor to give it more accurate readings.
