the blue light you are seeing is not coming from bulbs. it is coming from the acutal overlays. The glow like an indiglo watch.

First, MY installation (I believe I started this thread), I did not replace any bulbs, I want to but when I do, I will get Blue LED bulbs and I will install them similar to what was shown above by pdyebrasil. (Looks gr8 by the way) And in addition, the blue you see in his gauge cluster IS from bulbs and from the overlay (read what he says). They need to be powered up to glow and have a selector switch between blue and green, but the green isn't very intense.

Where did you get those yellow needles?

I can barely see my needles on my 2002 SR5 4Runner and that is driving me crazy. I need to do something. I used to drive a 1995 Limited and that one had yellow needles. The needles you have on your pic are very bright yellow. Is that stock? If not, where did you get those needles? Thanks for the post by-the-day. Awesome stuff!

Thank you. I had already ordered a set of LED bulbs. The reason I asked if the the needles were yellow is because I have a hard time seeing the red needles against a black background on the 2002 4Runner even on day light, when wearing sunglasses and when the sunlight hits a certain way. I used to have a 1995 4Runner with yellow needles and it was much better to see. I wonder if there is anywhere I can buy just yellow needles.

I changed the needle color by removing the old color and repainting, color is only on the backside. Getting those needles off isn't always easy and I had a time getting the fuel needle just right again. To be safe I nabbed some needles off a broken cluster in the boneyard, in case mine broke. It can happen....

I already ordered a 1998 4Runner cluster off a junkyard. Those have yellow needles. I will try to swap them, but in case I cannot, what type of yellow paint did you use? Thanks

They make paint pens...I got one from Office Depot. Fingernail polish might work too, not sure long-term though- that's what I used to get the color I wanted.
