If you are looking for some spare black leather scraps that I have that I could send it to you as soon as I go back home (next week actually) and I could ship it to you, and it would be all on me (anything to see a fellow yotatecher succeed). That is, of course assuming my dad hasnt decided to clean out the garage (which I think he diid... and wont remember where he put my stuff). I have been following the thread and just like everyone else, thought it was an update, but i guess we'll hafta wait patiently. Im gettin back to the party that is happnin in my appartment... yes I left the shin dig to see if you had completed another step in this wonderful proccess (and I'm not embarassed by it) congrats and good luck. Shoot me a PM if you want the leather ( I check yotatech often).

Finals are over finally. Today I gutted out the seats to pull the front carpet. I ran it at the washateria with the RIT t shirt dye from walmart. But you can't control the cycle so after the first wash it was only dark gray. Plus all the lint from the padding went everywhere. So I took it home and mixed the dye powder into a spray bottle with hot water and started spraying. Its looking okay right now but I need to let it dry first and rinse it somewhere before I put it back in. I'm gonna post pictures in the next post I make.

Other stuff

Also tried a floor mat too...I might not have to buy new floor mats if this works.

Unfortunately for me...my work will be going in vain...my parents want to get me a new car so I have to just finish the work im doing right now. I'm gonna push to finish the carpet and panels. Only things I won't get to do is finish the upper half in gray and the seats in black. I think the end product that I'll have before selling the car will be pretty nice though. Atleast all the dark oaky color will be gone.

Yeah I could but the runner is theirs not mine. If it was under my name then it'd be a different story. They want me to get something smaller since I've been commuting alot more this past year. I think its going to be an IS300.

Miata's are nice but I like to stick with yota related brands. Although a friend of mine and I are gonna pick up a 90-91 miata to play with so that's gonna be fun too. I can still have a project car and a decent DD. Its just that my parents don't like it when I mod so much and this project is becoming bigger than I expected. Time to wrap up and cut losses I guess.

I got a set of is300 sunvisors that have the homelink module. I plan on removing it and then installing it in the headliner and power it using the upper light console as the source.

I thought your 'rents did'nt like you mod-ing your vehicles?
and yet here you are tearing your sunvisors and headliner apart...
again...

I only suggested the miata because if I can't find another truck I like up here
and the ins. decides to scrap mine I may go for a miata...
I know sacraledge{?} but....

Well this is my last mod vehicle. I said that to them when I was transitioning from the corolla to the 4runner that I wouldn't mod anymore but I broke that promise many times already. But with all the fiasco I've had with the interior mods...I think I'm done now...until I graduate anyway. Then I can actually afford to do things the right way.

Update for today...I went to a different washateria and ran another cycle to even everything out. It's not as black as it could be if i would have tub dyed it but I dont' have the time to have my car with just one seat in it so I let it dry and I already reinstalled everything. I'll post pictures later tonight.

Carpet...Done I think...

Carpet is done...I just need to get a lint roller to roll it all back up. Downside? I might have to get brand new carpet if it doesnt clean up well...theres alot of lint from the padding and such. Also not dark black...I just need a functional car right now though...so I can't do without the seats right now.

Heres the carpet installed...there are some wrinkles that need to be ironed out...the problem with stuffing it in the washer...I'm sure.

Word of advice for anyone attempting the carpet dying. Get a large tub...use lots of hot water and LOTS OF RIT DYE...like triple the amount. I read the directions on line...all you have to use is the tub and a large stirring stick for 10-30 minutes. Unfortunately you also have to rinse it afterwards...but it'll still be better than washing machine style...especially for something this big. You'll get more even results and and the carpet won't be thrashed by the washing machine. I'm learning alot from doing this but it'll be good advice for anyone attempting this in the future.

Now on to the long part...priming and painting the rest of the panels correctly. It'll be a while before the next update.
