Recoloring interior of 3rd gen 4runner...PICS included

They are factory tweeter pods. I just pretty much dremeled out the grill part and made the opening big enough to fit the infinity tweeters in. Its a snug fit so they stay on pretty well. Day to day driving doesn't loosen them up but if you push on them the tweeter will fall back.

Okay so good day. I finally got off the headliner and gutted every oak piece...well not every...the front "oh s***" handles won't come down because they were loctited at the factory so I need to get an impact driver and drill kit to remove them. So far I installed all the gray pieces I have for now so I won't have too much metal to look at and too many parts laying around. Heres a picture of the mess so far...

Can anyone guess what other mod is coming with all this coming down? Anyway the door was shot with another coat and here are pictures of whats done so far...

Gunmetal trim pieces...

Entire dash finally all black...

Notice the woodtrim I'm temporarily using so I can refinish the rest of the pieces. Everything is coming along nicely. Although I think it won't be til summer when I can finish EVERYTHING. I still need to source the back seats, rear driver seatbelt, and rear quarter panels locally plus the rear hatch panel. As for the current progress, I'd like to thank DeathCougar for supplying the seatbelts and the other odd gray interior parts. Also thank my friend Alden for helping me paint my parts so professionally. Still lots more to go though...stay tuned.

I just have the one shifter piece. I have it cuz i was contemplating wood graining it once in a while but the cost doesn't justify it. Besides, gunmetal and black looks much sportier.

looks really really sharp tv..
can't wait to see the next installment...
you going to put some sound mat stuff on the roof before you reinstall the headliner?
There was a thread here someplace about using a foil backed insulation product from home depot that is the same stuff the sound shops sell but much cheaper and in larger rolls too.
Thanks for the continuing inspiration Aviator

I am sticking very close to this thread, I would like to change all the oak
(i think more brown in my interior) over to black.
I would Also like to go lighter on my carpet color to match the door panel and seat colors.
Thanks for the inspiration all!

Did you paint/dye the fabric portion of the door panel or replace it?
Personally I might have gone for a suede type finish in a contrasting colour like a grey tone to match the dash but that is just my taste... the black looks good too.

I was gonna say you should use the grey seatbelts and carpet from another 4Runner but it looks like you got it handled
For the center armrest and door armrests, you should watch for bleeding onto your shirt/sweater sleeves if you paint/dye them. The best way to go would to have them reupholstered when you get your seats done. Shouldn't be too much more since they'd already have a bunch of extra material from the seats. Maybe have them do the door panel inserts as well.
Looks good though!

I painted it with the fabric/vinyl paint. If it doesn't work out in the lopng run, I'd either get dark gray or mesh gray put in.
