Rear Window

The rear window on my '94 Runner has been operating very slowly of late. I opend up the tailgat and greased everything up, but not much difference. It seems to go fine until in meets sides of the frams then it slows to a crawl and sometimes stops. Any ideas? Could it be the motor?

Did you grease the runners on the bottom of the window?

Also check to see if the assister spring has broken.

I can post some pics if you want. I did mine last week

I noticed that mine does that too, mostly in the colder weather that we are having. I am guessing that is has something to do with the motor being cold and all. Other than greasing and lubing it up really well, I don't know what else it could be! :fireman:

This is where to grease

And

The spring to look for is on the inside of the mechansim where the blob of white grease (left side) on the second pic.

The runners always rust up and cause loads of problems, some times they even fall of.

Regards

Thanks for the pix. How'd you get the window to move with the gate down?

where the gate locks you will see two latches one either side.

press a srcewdriver in each one so that the gate thinks it is shut, then you can either use the key or the switch in the cab.

if you want pics I'll take some

make sure you are closing the latches all the way, they click once then press them again
