Does anyone know if there's something that came from the factory that should go in the rear storage compartment? There are straps and a rectangular area that's recessed...looks like something was supposed to be there.

 

In countries that require vehicles to be sold with folding warning triangles, it goes in there. My Brazilian HiLux SW4 has one. It also came with a first-aid kit and a fire extinguisher, as do all Brazilian vehicles.(This last goes back to when half the cars were air-cooled VW Bugs that didn't like tropical heat.) My US 4Runner came empty from the factory, but I found a triangle to strap in there.
