Rattling SC

I think I have a bad nose drive assy on my first gen supercharger. I am in the process of finding out where/ how etc. to get the part, but since I didn't install the SC, I don't have any torque specs for when i reinstall it.

I'm sure the nose drive info will be covered with the replacement part, but I need the specs for the SC to manifold.

Anyone have this info?

Much appreciated.

Mike

try Magnuson Products

There are the guys who actually make the superchargers for TRD. Send them an e-mail or call them. They are very helpful and happy to answer questions. The can provide you with a new nose drive and installation help if necessary.

thanks

Dukestr,

Thanks for the link. I've been there many times and have read his info. Although, I didn't for this problem, 'cuz I had a brain fart.

Tomus,

It's weird, I've seen a couple different posts for people who've contacted Magnuson. Either they have been really helpful, or told people they couldn't help them at all. All for the same problem. I left a message for them the other day and have not received a call back.

I'll be trying again. I don't see any reason they wouldn't sell the part. hmmmm.

Thanks again.

Magnuson

I emailed them for some of their tech data for the TRD units they make. They told me the units are proprietary and I'd need to talk to TRD directly. They were quick and polite - their hands are tied.

They responded to my email within 24 hours. Send them an email at: tech@magnusonproducts.com

They might just direct you to TRD also.

Good Luck!!

OK, WTF?

Why would they not sell to some but sell to others. There must be a magic word we are not supposed to say. Like TRD.

Maybe if we just called to order a Nose Drive assy for whatever model we have and don't mention TRD.

Hmmmmm.

update

I checked closer for the sound this weekend. I pulled the SC belt off and noticed the SC pulley would wiggle back and forth (twisting motion). Kind of like it's worn on a spline or key.

I don't have the tools to pull the nut off (it's tight, though). I can't hold the pulley still and turn the nut. Maybe if I had a strap wrench or air gun.

I'll be taking it in and let you all know what happens.

update

Just got off the phone with Tim (?) in the reman department of Magnusen. I ordered a replacement nose drive assy which should be here in a few days.

Total with refundable core charge and shipping was just under $400.00 ouch!

Better than a whole new SC!

I'll take some pics as I get this job done.

pics of pulley

here are pics of what my pulley is doing. I think the nose drive is fine, but with 70,000 miles, its probably time to take care of it while I'm at it.
