I dont have any pics, I didnt even have to pound the pinch weld down, clearance is maybe 1/2 centimeter on the front and about the same on the rear fender. I will be doing the pinch weld mod and probably cutting the bed for a new rear bumper

Well I suppose the Tacoma has fewer issues with the pinch weld, then. I have 285/75 R16 MTs and rub the pounded pinch weld when completely stuffed with the wheel turned a bit and I have around 4.5" of lift (3" OME + 1.5" BL).

You probably had more problems without he 285 since its wider.

I believe it. I just fit 35x12.5x15s on my 00' Taco, and still function. My 31" trail diggers turned into slicks and I said I'll be damned if I ever buy tires under 35" again! Had to take ol' bessy to that inner fender, but she's running down the road and only rubs on hard dips. I'm sure with a small coil spacer and a longer shackle I'll be fine at full stuff.

Tacoma "yes" but 4Runner "no"?
Glad to hear that your 255/85's are working fine with only 1.5" of lift on your Tacoma! Maybe Tacomas can more easily accept this size tire?
I have the 255/85/16 BFG M/T's on my 1999 4Runner.. they also function great BUT I still get some rubbing sometimes (mostly via wheel-stuff or off-camber situations). And this is with 2.5"-2.75" of suspension lift!
I'd prefer it if my tires never rubbed.... will likely install a 1" body lift in hopes of finally eliminating ALL rubbing (even though I prefer to keep the truck low as possible, the rubbing has to go.... even once in awhile is too annoying for me).
