Problems with my footwell lighting

Noticed tonite when I got out of my Runner my lighting didn't come. Thought I had the switch in the wrong place but it's right. If I goto the on all the time detent it all works fine but it will not work in the position that only makes it come on with the doors. Tried all 4 doors and it did the same.. nothing. Any ideas how the door pin ground is tied into the dome light? I pulled the lense off the light and it appears to be grounding correctly on the switch..Any ideas guys?

That door pin switch only has one wire connected. When the door is opened it grounds that one wire to the body there. If you have an 'always hot' wire on one side of your foot lights and ground the other side through that one wire that goes to the door switch they should work fine.
Check your fuses. The extra load of the extra lights may have blown the original fuse.

If memory serves...
Joey has the lights wired to the dome light switch so he can selectively turn them on or to operate with the door switch. I think these were working before for him.
The fuse that protects the dome would be the fuse in question. If it was spent, the dome would not work at all (neither would the footwell lights in the "on" position).
Joey, can you post a little wiring diagram of where/what you tapped into? I have an Toyota electrical diagram for my '93 that should be the same for this type of stuff. My question is in reference to how you might have wired the footwell lights togther (ie parallel or series).
Yotatech's members have lots of knowledge, we'll all figure this out...:confused:

Hey Guys I fixed my little problem I was having. Not sure exactly what it was I did though. I took my dome down off the roof and re routed the wires where I had them tied into the bulb holder. I suspect one of the wires may have been grounding itself it somewhere. Anyways all is well for now. Here are a couple of pics for those curious what kind of set up I have. It's pretty basic for a 2nd Gen
I only ran two wires under the headliner and down the drivers side to the plastic strip by on the door frame. Once I got to there I spliced the other wires in for the footwell lights. Very simple set up.

When replacing my pass kick panel, the clip somehow nicked one of the wires, shorting it and blowing fuses. Retracing the wires to find a short was a bitch, I gotta be more careful. Glad the lights are working again. I see ya got the Hyper-white bulb...those are clean and bright eh?

Doink them are PIAA Xtreme Superwhite bulbs available here They put out a very bright white light. With that one on, my footwell lights, and the map lights(which also have these bulbs) my cockpit is lit up super bright. In fact if you pop the map lights on at night while driving, you can't see a thing! I am super impressed at what a $9 bulb can do....LOL:eek: They are spendy but worth the $$ IMO. I have them in all my interior lights.
