can you say torrington thrut bearing failure - don't know if it was cage or roller first, but it looks like it was certainly the bearing.

Great Thread folks! I would like to say that after all my postings about my A340H grinding when the O.D. is in the off position and it's really bad until I switch the O.D. on it relaxes some and is better but I can feel the grinding when in the O.D. position when traveling up and down some slight hill roads on my way to and from work and also just going out and about. It feels like every time my tranny has to go from O.D.to a lower gear the grinding is really bad and when switching back to the O.D. it is not so bad .I will say that my tranny shifts fine through all gears but there is some rattle in the tranny when I have to get up and go trying to get in to traffic with the 3.0 gas peddle pushed to the floor I can here rattle in the tranny and feel the grinding.....now I have to say that I feel that my 95 4runner with the A340H may have be starting to have the same problem with my planetary gear..I wonder if this is a common problem? and my runner now has 174,000 miles and I'm not comfortable driving this runner on any kind of long trips worried about this issue just leaving me sitting on the side of the highway.....I always drive the 4runner in the O.D. mode just to let you know except for when I'm going up a grade and need the extra pull then I'll click it off just for a few seconds...and the ECT button don't help much

Yeah I'm approaching 130,000 miles now on my 2002, and it has only had one tranny flush at about 90k. Are there any real symptoms that show up before the failure?
