Power window Questions

Hi,

My drivers side window (2001 4runnner) does not go auto-up/down and the auto light on the button is flashing, the button feels normal. The motor had been making a noise that sounded like a dry bushing in the motor. I took the motor apart and greased the gears and bushing, smooth as silk now but the auto-up/down feature quit.

Is there some sort of timing issue with the motor and regulator gear? What does the flashing Auto light mean on the window button? Any ideas?

Thanks
Doug

Maybe the computer in the door needs to be reset... hold the window switch down for a good 10 seconds...

I have seen this happen in other cars. i would think it's worth a try.

Thanks, I restored the auto up/down function by having the door closed and then plugging in the door switches. It seems that the delay function-(lets you roll up the windows after the key is turned off for a minute or so)- was messing it up, very strange. So, now the auto light on the button does not flash and the window goes up and down automaticaly.

BUT, and I hate "buts", when it goes up it it closes and then goes half way back down. Something is not telling something else when the window is closed, if I put a block of wood between the window and the top of the door it does the same thing, must be a safety feature. There are no binds in the window track or drive. I did a search and saw some posts on this but no answere.

Anyone have any ideas?

Doug
