power widow switch
#1
Got a freind whose has a 4runner with a problem. I have been on him to check out this site but he's not terribly computer inclined.
His problem...
His power window on his driver side does not roll down. He thinks it is the switch (could be the motor). Stealer ship wants $300 for whole new window contols panel assembly. It is only the drivers side that does not work all other windows work perfectly.
Any suggestions...he looked locally at junk yard but whatever the gave him was not compatable with his wiring harnesses. I guess 1997 was a Toyota wiring harness change up year??
He's got a 1997 base 4 runner with 4-cylinder: no frils or mods.
Thanks,
Tod

Could be the switch, relay or the motor. My guess is the relay. To check it, pull the door panel and use a 12v source to to run the motor up and down to rule out the motor. The switch is easy to check continuity on with a digital multimeter. If both of these check out, then it's the relay.
