what's the point of getting winter/summer wheels? i mean, what do you look for in a winter tire compared to summer, and what are the benefits of having different wheels. it is just looks, or is there a practical reason?

most definately my californian friend. up here where we get real winters a good set of studded or winter tires is a must have. the road salt eats up your aluminums and pitted chrome rims rust in a weekend.

I don't know about that much chrome under a chromeless car. I think more tire would have looked nicer just to match all the black paint of the car (don't kill me-- i mean LC)
side note... I think my bicycle has more inches of rubber.

For me I like the looks of shiney wheels specifically 18's. I am hoping that BFG will come out with an A/T that is around a 33 that will fit my wheels by the time i get them. In the winter i dont want the wheels to get all messed up by the salt on the road thus i will switch back to my stock wheels and 285's.
