just my opinion, but i think if you buy a 4x4 you defeat the purpose of a 4x4, but putting the, 20" rims with the low profile tires on it, i just look at them guys and smile, thats just me thou.

Lowering SUV's/luxury cars and putting huge chrome rims on them have been a trend in Japan for more than 10 years now. Yes, Japan, where the 4Runner and just about every other Toyota originated. That's a time when most rappers/athletes/wanna-be-ballers were still driving their Benzos and Bimmers on 15 inch chrome Momos. The look is called "Lux" and there are tons of Japanese magazines and tuning shops that focus on this type of SUV/car genre. For those who like to get mud caked onto every nook/cranny of their underbody and enjoy cleaning it, more power to them. Not to mention the added wear and tear that offroading contributes to. As to me, I'll take the functionality/space of an SUV and still enjoy the sport handling and aggressive look of a dropped 4Runner on big chrome wheels.

what's wrong with lowering an SUV? not all 4runners have 4wds so most people drive them on streets. not everyone who has a 4runner HAS to go offroading. people like them because of the style, the looks, space, or whatever. those people who dont go offroading may lower their vehicle and modify it for street driving. sure, they can get a car/sports car, but like i said before, they probably like the look, style, roominess of a 4runner.
and there isnt anything wrong with fixing up your ride to make it look unique, even if it doesnt have any function. just as long as it's nice and not tacky. theres nothing wrong with lifting it either. its whatever you want to do with your ride. nothing wrong with going for looks if you got the dough. dont be hatin' on other peoples 4runners/rides. there are other vehicles you can go offroading in.

If you were to sit in my truck when my wall was in (ive torn it out since then) you couldn't physically breath during bass hits. Any soda cans in the drink holder would not remain there. Forget about even reading the instrument cluster let alone stuff outside. You got to watch the windsheild wipers bounce a full 2" off of the windshield - and if you are outside, you not only felt the bass still, but you could watch the windsheild itself flex a solid 1/2." I cant count the number of people who underestimated the system before they heard it, then literally jumped out of the truck holding their ears screaming that it was too loud....lol ahh the memories....

competition. whats the point of having a rock buggy? whats the point of having a big screen tv, expensive shoes, name brand products??? It's about wanting the best or being the best. I am striving to build a system to lay waste to all but even if I reach BumpinYotas levels it will still be a sucess.

Yeh they make 26's but ive heard that just the tires for a set of 4 is something like 8k.
Thats money that could be better spent else where IMO. I saw in DUB magazine the other day at a wheel show they had a picture of a 30'' wheel
. Talk about ridiculous!

that runner is one stall over too far. it belongs in the handicapped stall cause the driver is retarded.
sorry, just had to post that before someone else did. We had a guy run through here with 30" VP's on his 02 runner. It needed a 3" lift to clear them. kinda cool but too much money to burn on 1 set of rims. maybe for a winter tire/rim combo, summer street combo and trail combo then that amount of bank is worthwhile.

The funny thing about the Land Bruiser (that' what we call it at my house) on 26" rims is that it is a FULL-TIME 4WD vehicle, and you can't disable the 4WD. The front axles are driven with their own differentials so you don't get that stiffness like when you try to turn a 4Runner in 4WD. Oh yeah, another thing -- LC's weigh more than Suburbans...
