You've obviously never been offroading before. No you dont need to go offroading, but its a sport and its what many people, including myself, like to do. YES, you DO NEED to clear large objects. If you don't, you either get stuck or left behind. You DO NEED to cross deep water, not everywhere has bridges when you offroad.

All I'm trying to say is that offroading mods are functional, where these ricer mods have absolutly no function whatsoever.

well said, i agree completely,
Bumpin yota- this ricer stuff is all ˟˟˟˟˟ IMO, it does nothing good, and i can even see it doing more bad than good. But off-road type mods are very functional, even if ya never go offroad, you wouldnt understand though, its called experience, and you cant read it on a computer screen

Actually I have gone off-roading quite a bit in my yota's past - now that the tranny is about to blow and has 218400 miles, I'm babying it. Here in florida, the biggest rock you'll find is about 6" tall - so no I've never had to clear large objects nor will I need to until I go to one of the east coast jamborees... I for one will NOT purposely take my yota into water above the floorboards as I dont like having my interior rot from water being retained in the cab - but that's me. (Yes its been in water over the floorboards recently...)

The big rims and dropping do serve a purpose - to lower the center of gravity and increase the truck's on road handling performance. We are modding for off roading performance at the cost of on road performance. Those dudes are slowly doing the same thing as us, only their final goal is different. Granted some do look like total ass but not the majority. And yes the flames bite....lol

Not only that, but a car is part of your personality. I for one like a SHARP looking truck that commands attention and doesn't demand attention like some of the rigs out there. That's a big difference that many people miss...

And I LOVE the spinners - that is TIGHT! I wonder if they will spin with 2lbs of mud caked on them? That would be even better dont you think?

Steve

How do you like your SAWs? I was thinking about replacing my stock torsion bars with those, but am wondering about how the front end will change in it's handling performance from stock. Im mostly concerned about on road handling and cornering, however I do some offroading every now and again.

Only thing I'd want from that 4Runner are the clear tails, the JAOS wing and grill guard but other than that, that thing is fu<kin' ugly

I personally don't like any "ricer", big rims, etc. but the way I look at it, what ever floats your boat. It's all about personal opinion, some like it some don't.

Yea, you've probably seen it. The guy's name is Bob. He's a internet troll. He lurks around on message boards that he's been banned from, and sends harrasing emails to people and it makes him feel like a big man. In fact, he's reading this right now I'm sure. Check out this thread for more info on Bob:

I remember it's not a JAOS wing. It is a genuine Toyota wing directly from Japan!!

Personally I like the JAOS look a lot and that's why I went with quite a few JAOS stuffs. I guess it is safe to assume Toyota also likes JAOS since they bought the company and made JAOS stuffs OE in Japan.

I still remember in early 2001 right after I bought my 4Runner I found out the other forum, and people there were telling me how nice JAOS stuffs were. Things do change over time.....

Dude, what a wacko. I've met his type, they are occcasionally dangerous. I'm sure he will push someone too far someday.

Anyway, check this out. This truck will never be clean again, but that's gotta be LOTS of fun...

Lowered 4Runners just look completely stupid. If your a 30 yr old guy driving around in something like than, then i would feel pretty stupid. The only reason for lowering something like that is to get noticed. Pretty expensive for that.

The "Big Chrome" wheels don't serve any purpose at all besides slowing the truck/SUV down because of their mass. The acceleration of whatever they are on will be severely hindered because of them. If you wanted to lower the center of gravity even more as well as be faster and have better handling, stick with 15" or 16" wheels, but with low profile tires.

I saw a JDM wing here in central PA!!! I was behind some guy the other day and I was checking out the wing, I thought maybe it was a new 4th gen thing or something, but when he turned I realized it was a 3rd gen. I really liked the wing, it was color matched and looked real sweet. That guy had a real clean rig!
