So after I break hard in my Tacoma and release the brake....i hear a popping sound as my truck rolls forward or if I accelerate forward.

It's like something is popping loose. What is making this noise?

I'm thinking the drums may need replacing?

What do you all think?

where is the noise coming from? front back left or right.. does the truck jerk as it makes that noise?? need more info man......

is it me or are you having all sorts of issues with your taco ? lol

 

Axle wrap?

 

My bet is it's your slip yoke in the rear drive shaft. I've seen this on a lot of 4runners and Tacomas. I have it in mine. Usually when I feel the bump I can feel the rear end slightly drop.

 

i have that too.. i keep my slip yoke and other parts of the shaft lubed every other oil change with M1.. rarely do i get it now.. something to do with pressure build up in the yoke.. i wonder if a tiny hole was drilled in to release pressure would help or cause more issues...

 

it could also be your pinion nut coming undone. pull the shaft and see if it's come unstaked.

 

Well....

I just greased up my driveshaft and the popping is gone. It did feel like it could have been that. I guess I must have waited a little too long to do it this time!

Nothing HUGE....just little things that I want to remedy before they start costing the $$$.

With the tranny...it's never shifts hard from 1st to second unless I'm getting on it or just slightly feathering the gas (feels more like a jump to second in that case). I figure at 150K it's time to change out the ATF anyhow so why not do the whole thing while I'm getting messy.

The popping was just a lack of grease in the driveshaft.

The coolant was more of a question that I just wanted to know the answer to as I'd like to be able to do all my own auto work.

I was led to this forum from a friend and before this awesome discovery I would have had to pay to get all this work done...now I can learn how to do it myself!

The tranny is the only thing that is major! Although every time I get out there and look in the engine bay I find something else to do!

Oh...and I did have that Coil Pack issue a week or so ago...that's what started all this madness!

blinker fluid float valve is banging against the blinker

 

quatro, its ok man. we all start somewhere so welcome to yotech.. you will be paranoid about your truck from now on hahaha...

listen to edzo, he might be on to something.. look into synthetic blinker fluid. blinker fluid can get toasted pretty quickly, esp if you turn a lot :-)

 

Blinker Fluid?? For some STRANGE reason I'm feeling that I'm getting yanked a bit on this one.

 

And what should I refill the blinker fluid reservoir with?

I have soda, milk, OJ......

This must be the stuff that those elderly people use that leave their blinker on for extended periods of time on straight roads.

What weight of fluid should be used for summer? I'm guessing 20/50 for high mileage vehicles?
