I really wanted a white 4-Runner like my 93 was but they actually made me a deal I could not refuse....
This 2002 was brought in from Camelback Toyota in Tempe and was obiviouly a custom order and previouly preped for sale. It had 103 miles on it, the "Perma Plate" coating/polish and a few other things like tinted driver and passenger front windows.
I have to admit the gold color is growing on me.

Since I'm ditching my FloPro and going with the Dynomax, I figured I would check here and see if anyone else wants it. My muff shop said they were just going to cut it off and toss it, but I could just have them unbolt it and replace that section when they put on the new one. So anyone with a 3rd gen that wants a bolt on muff replacement that is very similar to the Magnaflow for $50 bucks plus shipping, drop me a message.
Sorry for posting this not in the Sale/Trade section, but I am on a limited timeframe. My appointment is Tuesday to get all this done.

Very sweet rig ALBPM, and the wifes toy is awsome too. I need to find me a girl that drives Toyota's too. My girlfirend drives a damn Eclipse, ah well I'm working on her to get a Celica after this one gives out
. I think I'm gona find me a nice exhaust shop and slap a mag and dyno on there and see which one sounds the best. Then add a nice chrome tip to which ever one. Thanks for all the great feedback guys, once again you have all been a HUGE help.

Jardine? Borla?
Any reason why nobody's mentioning Borla? And how about the Jardine system that Perf Prod sells?
There's not much here about glasspack mufflers either. Is there something wrong with them? This Dynomax is only $17 plus shipping from Summit.

So much is being said about how a muffler sounds... Do they all basically yield boosted performance?

Go with a Jardine exhaust system. Jardine actually started out and specializes in motorcycle exhausts, but they have branched out into an automotive division as well. The chart for it claims a 20 HP gain and a 35ft/lb gain of torque. It utilizes your current mounting "rubber things" and fits exactly where the original one would except the tip is pointed back instead of to the side. Piping is mandrel bent at 2.5" diameter, comes with installation instructions and a nice "Jardine" angular chrome tip, and it's a bolt-on (no welding at all) so you can do t yourself easily with jackstands and a ratchet. It's what I have and makes noise so that normal talking volume can't be heard whatsoever if I push the pedal to the metal. A guy with TRD headers and the TRD exhaust said mine was at least twice as loud, deeper, and much burlier, if that gives you any idea. At constant cruising speed you can hear a passenger speak fine, but there's still a low hum, and at idling it is near silent. Of course I've done the Deck Plate mod, the Intake Silencer Removal mod, and have an Amsoil air filter too, so that might make a difference. I think I'm going to go and have it dynoed sometime and I'll report back with the results. I predict around 230!

not sure what i'm going to get either
I'm getting a new manifold back exhaust system custom built by my guy up here. its going to be over size with a low restriction cat as i recall the specs it is 2.25 up to the cat then 3.0 the rest of the way back not sure what or even if i'm going to put on a muffler probably will though I want a smooth rumble at idle and a growl not bark when I put the boots to her...I live in a "quiet" neighbourhood...that and some of the cops around here can be anal at times...We also have another problem up here in ontario one of our misguided provicial parliament members is trying to stop the punk kids from street racing their rice rockets...how is he doing this?...by floating a bill that will make ALL aftermarket parts and any performance parts that were not offered as standard stock by the manufacturer illegal. that meas no K&N filters, no free flow cats or exhaust, no suspension build-ups, no sound systems...I could go on & on...we're fighting it as best we can with letters to our members of parliament but it is still in doubt...oh yeah! guess who gets to decide if a paticular part was standard or not...the cop who stopped you. so even if it WAS a standard part your screwed if the cop does'nt think so...

You may have changed out your muffler by now ....
I had a Flo-Pro 220 installed and used 2.25 in pipe from the cat back. I like the sound and as has been said at high-way speed you can npt hear it.
What model did you have installed?

I have a Dynomax with 2 outlets. The exhaust exits just behind the rear tires on both sides. In this configuration it is very quiet, almost too quiet. For what it is worth, I have Borla on my 5.9 Durango. It is also very quiet for a straight through design. In fact my wife still hasn't figured out that the exhaust has been changed.

I don't know about the sound but PP sells a full stainless bolt on system for $350 and it has a nice tip and much better quality over the Jardine system and only $100 more. I've heard about fitment problems with the Jardine system too.

I just got a 24" Magnaflow because I think it will offer the best sound while not droning in the cabin. I love Borla products, but the biggest muffler they make is 19".
I get my Magnaflow on next week and I'll post my impressions.

Ok this may sound like a dumb question, but do these mufflers increase performance? All u guys talk about is sound. Also what about durability? Ray blurpps@aol.com

They increase performance, but probably not enough to be able to tell. They also are supposed to increase your gas mileage, but I'm not too sure of that. Oh and they sound cool.
They are also very durable, especially if you get the stainless muffler. They are very heavy and also have a lifetime warranty.
What are you waiting for?
