3rd Gen Snorkel

Ok Ok, I know I posted about this a looong time ago, but when I went back on my old posts, everything was linked to 4x4 wire, and due to their sweet new setup ( ) I couldn't find anything there.

so anyone with a little help please?

I am seriously considering one now, since Shazad, and Kenton hydro-locked their rigs this past weekend on our Badlands run

I want a snorkel also. I have a deck plate and have filled in all the small holes in my airbox. I am going to extend the 90 degree elbow to run back towards my power antenna using PVC pipe. The problem is making the hole out of my fender look good and maintain enough support for he top of the snorkel Let me know some of your ideas, maybee we can come up with something.

If my memory is correct I have seen a pic on an internet sight for a store in Oregon, they have a 3rd generation with a custom snorkle

i have a 3.4, and the snorkel for the 3.4 taco worked perfectly. you just have to buy the intake tube from a taco and modify the power antenna a little (flip it around, bend the L bracket that bolts it in 180 and bolt it up just like stock and notch the bottom fender sandwich plate on the other side so it will fit when the antenna is flipped around). no biggie. there is a huge post on 4x4wire where I detail the entire install...

44Runner: What brand of tires are you running? I like the tread and footprint.

I too would like one, but don't know anyone that has one. I would be curious if it affects performance in anyway - for normal driving conditions day-to-day.

I have heard it is rather restrictive, but I have done the Deck Plate Mod so I figure that the effects will be compencated with the new air path when the plate is removed. I dunno I just don't want to hydrolock my engine again

If you leave the deckplate out for normal driving conditions you shouldn't see any difference in performance at all. When you are out on the trail make sure to put that deckplate back in or you spent money on a snorkel for nothing

Water in the airbox totally sux........................

I would say it is definately less restrictive than the stock intake...

If you need help finding 44Runner's writeup on 4x4wire...just do a search for "Bunny Dave". It will pop right up.

Where did you get it from, and how much was it? I am really seriously positively wanting one now, so I don't hydrolock.
