Photos of an '03 with brush guard....

I saw this link to Ebay and it shows and '03 with a brush guard from a couple of angles. I can't decide if I like it or not.

I personally don't like brush guards, especially the ones that go over the brake lights

My personal opinion... brushgaurds suck. The majority of them are pretty much just for looks Real protection comes in the form of a TJM or ARB. Very stout and take a lickin'... you get the idea. I am getting a Lincoln or a Miller soon and plan on fabbing up my own designs! Something really really really good!

WTF

The brush guard makes it the truck look to front heavy...

What really comes to mind is that I have seen a *lot* of used '03 Runners for sale locally and on the web with less than 3000 miles. Makes one wonder.

I am beginning to lose the love for brush guards....

I see way too many Suzukis and Escalades with huge wheels, low profile tires and brush guards

The one in the picture looks pretty decent, but I personally don't like the Waag front for the new Runner. It reminds me of the guard for the RAV4. I guess its because the far outside edge angles up higher than the center.

I think the rear bar isn't bad looking. As a whole it looks okay, but I'd wait to see what else is coming out.

i think it looks pretty good on the '03 model. it could be a nice way to mount some lights up front. although i think the practicallity of the whole thing really depends on what kind of driving you do. if you're doing mostly city driving, and a lot of parallel parking, it will really help with people who like to tap the front bumper. that way you don't ding up the finish or the bumper. if you're doing country driving... it may help as a "deer catcher". but for off roading, i'd say it'd be next to pointless when compared to an ARB or TJM. although, i don't know if those companies make a bumper for the '03 model yet. so maybe that's your only option for now?

just my .02 cents

I've posted before that I don't like brush guards for safety and durability reasons. They can interfere with proper deployment of any of the six airbags/curtains available. Parts of the guard can interfere with correct headlight beam pattern, reducing visibility. The extra weight will surely accelerate front shock and spring wear. Lastly, IMHO they don't even look good, and scream ultimate poseur/ricer unless they're the real deal like TJM or ARB.

Personally I like the way it looks...but you guys are right about the practicality of it (other than light mounting). I have a guard in the mail as we speak actually...but just the center portion or head light covers or anything.

I will post pics later on.
