overheated disc rotors
a friend of mine had a pair of slotted rotors (DBA 4000 series). His front brakes seized so on the way home, he traveled with the front brakes locked. As a result, the three thermo-graphic heat paint stripes (Green, Orange, & Red) turned to white, meaning the temperatures reached or exceeded 630 deg C / 1166 deg F.
my question now is would it still be safe to continue using the rotors? The brake pads have been replaced already.
Thanks!

As long as the front end does not shake apart.
What I would worry more about is how that heat effected the wheel bearing grease
I have seen tires blow from getting the brakes to hot back in the day of tube type tires.

Me I myself would of changed all the front brake parts pretty much to me new pads new rotorsDepending just how they were cooled if they just were air cooled that little amount of heat would not effect the temper. Now if they were sprayed with the hose different story.
It is how things are quenched that effects the temper.
but would most likely have warped them so bad the shaking would bounce the coffee out of a 1/4 full coffee mug

the owner said that he left the brakes to cool by air, no water. he also said no warping as he brought it to a machine shop to be resurfaced. the machine shop guy told him no need to resurface as both rotors were ok.
