Outer Tie Rod End issue since freehub swap...

I guess my initial question would be:

are Tacoma OUTER tie rod end shaft bigger at the bolt that goes thru the spindle?

I had the manual hub conversion done with Tacoma spindles...

now, i'm have an issue getting the truck to pass inspection because of "too much steering wheel play" - which is located in this outer tie rod end moving too much in the spindle. I torqued this to spec...and for the life of me can't figure it out....UNLESS...

am i putting the wrong outer tire rod ends on?

any insight would be great!

technically you didn't even ned to touch your outer tie rods.....

the only thing needed touched was the upper ball joint

correct - upper all the way down to the lower were replaced.

That's not the issue - the issue is in the outer tie rod end - the LEFT one has buncho play and is causing steering slop (basically you can move the wheel a good 4-5 inches before it turns the wheels)

they are brand new. rack is solid, bushings, etc....the issue is obviously RIGHT there D/S outer tie rod end....

i guess i'm just doing to crank the Outer d/s down a whole bunch - past torque spec?

found out the answer:

YES - there IS a different diameter end to the part of the outer tie rod end that goes into the spindle!

FYI when swapping 3rd gen Taco and 4R parts!
