Ordered Supercharger...

Ordered Supercharger...
Oh god, my fiance is gonna kill me.
I finally broke down and bought one. I even called a few dealers in the area to see how much the install was. They range from $400 to $500. This seems a little high to me. Anyone in the Texas area know of a better deal. I'd drive to Houston or San Antonio if needed.
Also, is the transmission cooler and boost guage needed right away or is this something that I can hold off on?
Thanks,
Nick

Depends
Congrats on the SC. You'll love it. $400-500 sounds about right to me, but I had mine put in when I bought the truck. I've heard it takes a good day to put one in.
As far as the boost gauge or tranny cooler. No, the boost gauge is not necessary. Unless you want to watch it go up and down. The tranny cooler makes sense if you tow or plan to race around all the time.
If not, don't bother. I have had my SC on for 70,000 miles without a tranny cooler and no problems.
Good luck!
Mike

I think my boyfriend would kill me if I ordered a supercharger too.....although he didn't mind the screen....now I don't have enough money....I need at least a month to a month and a half to raise that much cash, or I have to work more.........I need to stop spending so much money!

I bought it from Romania Toyota for $1795. I would have gone through Sterling but I live in Texas and would have to pay over $100 in tax so I went with these guys. Maybe I'll try the install myself with a buddy.

sockets
Blue...,
One word of caution (or maybe two) about the install. I've never run into this before and I thought I was pretty mechanical.
When I did my Nose Drive (front of the SC... mine went bad) the directions said to use a "six point socket". I used my handy craftsmen 20 point or whatever and almost stripped the head on the worst possible bolt.
I got a six point socket and realized why they recommend that. You have a LOT more biting power with a six point due to more flat surfaces. You'll notice high torque or air wrench sockets are always 6 point. This is why.
Anyway, maybe you already knew this, but if not, maybe it'll save you a big hassle down the road.
Also, beware of the torque specs. I think they are 13lbs. I've been told not to go 1 lb over or you'll snap a bolt. If CStary chimes in, he'll tell you about his "adventure" with this.
