New rims on...but it wasn't easy.

I just can't even explain the ignorance of the men at the tire place. I got there at 11am and didn't end up home until after 7.

They didn't clear the calipers...

Spacers made the studs too short...

4 of the new lugs were bad;which led to the "mech" breaking studs...

They didn't know how to use the torque wrench...

They torqued the first lug on all the way down, without even spinning the rest on, then did the one next to that one next, instead of across.

He took my drum off, to fix the stud, and pulled the e-brake 23434324ou^24 times while it was off.

They didn't balance worth crap (no, i didn't drive it back to them, i will take it somewhere else)

Woke up this morning with both rear's 90% flat. (I did drive it back and had them re-mount them)

Sucky... I guess I shouldn't complain that my tire shop put on E-rated tires when I was expecting C's.

Nice rims.

It got worse today! I took it to the shop this morning, and told them I needed longer studs, and a re-balance. I called after work, and they hadn't touched her yet. So now she sits in there all weekend while I drive the ol'lady's jeep liberty....NICE

yeah man i thought you were getting rid of the 4runner!

and seriously i'm not doubting your ability to man up, but if you think it's the least bit feasible...go up there and, like they said, tear them a new a hole. was this a tire place or just a shop that had the tire changing equipment? well either way qualified technicians should be taking care of this at all times, i had my wheels changed out yesterday and it took two hours between dismounting all four, remounting with 5 spokes balancing and issuing weights on each. if you don't stand up for this atrocity they're going to think they have more of a chance to doop somebody down the road. take a stand when its necessary and to be honest i would demand a refund. sorry but i'm mad for you bro

All that sucks. On the other hand your ride looks real good now, I like the all black look.

its been known that some black steelies dont clear calipers, and that any sort of spacer you get should be the ones that you bolt to the hub and have new studs pressed in. steelies are heeavy...and it kinda degrades the runner IMO. if you wanted black wheels, why not paint/PC the oem alloys? would have saved you the hassle...

Steelies are only 10~ pounds more than most OEM alloys, also much cheaper to replace if you wheel hard and they still look good IMO.

The shop is called "The Tire Choice" www.thetirechoice.com. I'm pretty sure that they are only here in FL. The reason that I went there was because it is withing walking distance from my house, and I figured the job was going to take a couple hours. That, and the fact that I havn't lived here long enough to find a prefered shop.

There was a few reasons that I didn't rip em a new one, because trust me, calling out someone on their ignorance is something that gives me great pleasure.

1: They already had the tires mounted when the real shenanigans started, I figured the hardest part was over.

2: I was the only customer there, so the "big scene effect" would not have helped.

3: The manager was the dumbest one of all, as he was the one that informed me that it is impossible to warp rotors due to over tightening.

4: There has to be a certain level of intelligence for two people to have an argument, or else it's just like an adult scolding an infant. After 10 minutes in there, I realized that the entire shop combined could not have been on par understand the words that were going to be flying out of my mouth.

This time it just seemed better to walk those guys through it enough to get me out of there to someone different. In this case, I called my boss, found out who takes care of all the maintenance on all the work vans, and took it to him.

I have never had good luck with tire places, so I didn't expect much. When I got mud tires put on my Ranger, the mech flung off the front wheel, and with it came a few parts from the warn manual hubs. he left them on the floor of the shop, and put the wheel back on like those parts were just "extra". I just need to buy a balancer and a mounting machine, and start doing it myself.

Geez....get your money back and go elsewhere. Hopefully you paid with a credit card, that way you can fight it with your credit card company.

I would be so-o pissed, I'd wreak havoc and rip them a new one. Sucky situation, but seriously it's not rocket science to mount and balance wheels. hope it all works out.
