New Rear Bumper

Just finished installing my new rear bumper from BENTUP. The bumper was Zinc coated and then powder coated black.

No reciever. I opted not to get it since I don't plan on ever towing anything.

Sweet bumper. Looks like it would compliment an ARB front bumper really well. Is it completely boxed in or open on the inside? If it was boxed in, I'd make it to where it could double as an air tank, or maybe even a C02 tank with a detachable regulator.

I think he charged like $75 for shipping but that was shipped across the entire country so it might depend. Email him you zip code and he will give you a quote on the shipping.

It isn't completely boxed its more of a C-channel but its bent and formed from one piece of metal. The idea of a air tank might be a good idea and I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just have to weld a back on it and install some fittings. You would have to do something different for the license plate maybe weld some threaded spots in order to bolt the plate on.

That sounds like a really good idea though and you should run it by Aj at Bentup.

He replied already. That's pretty quick since it's so late. Anyway, here's what I wrote:

AJ, I’m a member of the Yotatech forum (I post as Churnd), and one of the other members there posted on the board and showed everybody his new bumper that you made for him. Here’s the link to the thread I’m talking about: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...18#post186018. In that thread, I asked the guy if the bumper was blocked in or open on the inside part that faces the truck. He said it was open. I was wondering if you could make a bumper that was completely sealed up, so it could be used for an air/C02 storage tank also. It would also need a fitting for the external regulator that could be removed. Do you think you could make a bumper like this? About how much do you think it would be? Thanks.

Here's what he replied:

Chris, I could make it so its totaly sealed. I would make it out of 3x6 tubing and put a piece of diamond plate on top to take up the space underneath the tailgate. Obviouly you couldn't have a hitch built into that bumper, but i could go under. The license plate bracket would have to be spaced off, because you couldn't drill holes in the bumper. You would have to rely on a light plate holder as well. Price is $375 plus shipping. That would come with the air fitting of your choice, and all necessary mods to make it work and function. Aj

Hmmm....

If I'm not mistaken, a PowerTank costs about that much, right? I'm not sure if he means he'll include the regulator also, but even if he doesn't, that's a pretty good deal for a bumper like that.

Yeah, they're not too shabby for the price. I dunno if AJ has changed the design at all, but I ended up making a couple changes to it.

http://home.comcast.net/~jruz/bentup_bmpr/FrameSet.htm

I notched it on both sides so it would suck-in closer to the truck, and I added a support on each side so it wouldn't slide up if I ever dropped down on a rock (which I have done).
