New Exhaust
#1
I am looking to put a new exhaust in my 1994 Pickup (4x4, 22RE). My muffler is cracked and i think the cat. is plugged up. I figure while I'm at it I might as well increase performance, so I want a whole new setup, and possibly a header too. I'm on a budget so I just want something practical. My question is if I replace the muffler, cat., and pipes with the same size ones will I have to weld anything or can I do it myself? Also, how do i get the o2 sensors into the system? Thanks for all the help, I really don't know too much about this stuff. Any help, advice, reccomendations, etc. are greatly appreciated.

Id go to a local shop, pick a good muffler like a dynomax or flowmaster and let them run new piping for you with teh muffler and a new cat, be the cheapest way. Then throw down on some headers later.

$200 is definately too much...it only cost me about $25 as a base price (minus tax, the tailpipe and some other stuff I had done) to get just my muffler put on. It doesn't require anything special to put a cat on as well...just more cutting and welding. I would look for maybe around $60-$100 at the most for the whole thing.
