Need help...battery drain
Hey all...
I installed my alarm system last night without a hitch (or so I thought). Every feature worked and it did everything it was supposed to do. However, this morning, I disabled the alarm, jumped in the car to go to school and tried to start the truck. The battery gave an initial jolt, however that lasted for about .5 of a second. So now the battery is totally dead. I then jumped it without a problem and was able to start it one more time without a jump, but after that, a jump was needed.
My initial thoughts were that I shorted something with the alarm, however, I was incredibly tedious with making sure that this didn't happen. Below are some wiring specs:
+12V Constant (Direct to battery)
+12V Ignition (Cig. fuse at driver's fuse box)
Ground (spliced into a ground wire that included grounds for my radar detector and CB)
Door Trigger
Unlock/Lock doors
Door unlock/lock ground (hooked to same ground wire as above)
The only possible problem I see here is that the grounds may not be up to par. Would that cause the battery to discharge?
Any other suggestions?
BTW- Battery is 1.5 months old at most.

The only thing i can say is maybe because you had the doors open all night working on it if the battery was conected the whole time, and possibly you were playing with it for awile after you installed it this could be the reason for the battery discharge but if it charged and then discharged again im not sure. Try seperating the grounds normally you want the same grounding spot at the chassis where the hole is instead of splicing into it but for this application in sure you would be fine seperating all of them.
If this doesnt help your gonna have to go through the whole thing again What kind of alarn is it might i ask?

It's a DEI Viper 550 I think. I worked about 5 hours to install it making sure that everything was perfect. I'll try separating the grounds. At this point I would rather buy a new battery if that would fix the problem than touch anymore of that wiring.
