I've been getting an engine light warning for quite some time on my 94 4runner V6. The code is 25 and 26, too lean and rich. So today I took it to a shop. They called me and said I have like 20% compression in one of my cylinders which is causing the engine light to come on because that cylinder isnt burning the fuel. They said it needs a valve job costing about $2000 :cry: . This isnt something I think I can do myslef plus I live an apartment complex with no real place to do major stuff. I dont know if i can justify spending that kind of money on this engine with 120,000. What do u guys think I should do? Do u think I can get this done cheaper or is this the right price. Just seems like alot to put into the 3.slow

IT seems pretty high to me, but I also paid $2400 for a used 3.0! Go figure?
You could probably replace the heads cheaper than that.

 

i would take it to another shop...normally a rich and lean code is a bad 02 sensor...

If your getting both codes together I would def. check the o2 sensor before going any further as mentioned above. Checking and replacing O2 sensor cheap. Head job expensive. You can check it by getting under the truck and locating the wire that comes from the exhaust pipe in front of the cat. It should be near the trans support. Unplug the connector near the drivers door and use an ohm metre and check that you have between 5 and 7 ohms resistance. Start there and we'll go from there.
