My plan of attack

Okay, so I'm complying ideas for what I want to do to my 4runner. I plan on doing this in stages and as money allows. Here's what I'm thinking.

Stage 1
Sliders (already installed)
mild lift sonoran steel system 3 (ordered)
99 headlight/center console swap
rear diff breather

Stage 2
ss 7 lift or toytec or something else
tjm 17 or arb front bumper / rear bumper if I can find one
aux. lights (roof console swap to house the switches)
tires

Stage 3
rear locker
anything else I can think of (sas , crawl box)

Granted this isn't an all inclusive list and things will change or go in order. As will my demands for my 4runner. This is also an updated of my mod or not thread.

If you're goal is greater offroad capability I would suggest:

Stage 1
rear locker or LSD(dramatic improvement over an open diff)
diff breather

Stage 2
SS#7(do a lift right the first time and forget about it)
bodylift(for extra room for larger tires)
tires

Stage 3
bumpers,lights and other cosmetic mods

The reasoning behind the ss 3 lift is because my shocks are shot and they need to be replaced and I don't have the $$ at the time to do the ss 7 lift let alone a locker. You do make some good points though.

Updated my orignal post.

Thanks for all of the replys guys. Now I'm probable going to be beating a dead horse here and I've searched just need to do it a little more.
Any how when it comes time for a rear locker ($$ first). Which would be the easier route to go. Retro fit the 3rd memeber, get an axle that is already setup with the locker or get an arb/lockright locker.
From what I've read up to this point doing the retro fit seems to be pretty extensive and time consuming, so would it be easier to swap axles or should I just throw both those ideas out the window and just get a arb locker? Just trying to plan.

you dont need to change out the whole axle, just pull the third member and replace it with a new one...or you could pull yours and install the locker...easiest way tho is to go to marlin, or trailgear and order a fully assembled third member.

Checked up on an axle with a locker:

I contact tap auto recycling in California. They quoted 900 for the axle and another 150 for the harness and switch. Does that sound about right?
It seems to me like that would be less time consuming and cheaper than buying a third member and modifing the axle.

Granted this probable won't come about for a while, until money allows.
