My clock died

My clock died this past weekend. I don't know if this is related but, I was messing with the cigarette lighter to try to find a power source for my halo reverse indiglos(they look beautiful btw despite my slip up ("idle" at 3700 rpm)). I did notice my clock was gone after this though. Are these two tied together somehow? If so what should i do to get my clock fixed.

I'm going to test the lighter to see if it still has power later today.

On the back of the center console panel, there is actually a spot where the clock will clip in, but it's just a dumby spot that isn't the actual clocks plug.

I used the wrong one on accident the last time I took my dash apart, and freaked when the clock didn't work. Took it apart and noticed the clock plugged in higher up.

Perhaps that's your problem too.

Nah, This happened with the dash in place. Prior to me taking everything apart. Besides i don't have to touch the clock to work with the guages. That's why I found it so strange.

I second the checking of fuses... Wierd things seem to happen when fuses blow... when i installed my radio everything went fine and dandy... till i blew the horn and the radio and half the lights in the cab cut off for about 20 minutes and then turned themselves back on... Boy was I freaking out... Turned out to be a fuse.. replaced it... everything is fine.. I can play my music and blow my horn at the same time

But, at least he didn't start a new thread, considering that it doesn't look like there was a definitive answer in this one!

There's a "fusable link" in the back of the lighter, if that goes, everything "down wind" of the lighter will lose power. Check that. I think it's only rated at 3-5amps, which isn't a lot of capacity. People will tend to pop it when looking for accessory power - it's easy to do if you try tapping in after it versus before it.

ditto on this. i blew the fusable link with an air compressor the other day. however, it must be real close to the socket because the wire tap i have that turns on my computer still works and i tapped pretty close to the socket (from memory).

now im going to add a few sockets around the cab, off the battery thru my own fuse box and on a relay for accessory power.

Yup, it's VERY close to the socket, like melded into the back of the socket itself.

Might as well add my clock topic to this post. For the last year or so my clock kind of goes dim, I can tap it with my fingers to make it stronger.

Whats the deal with that?
