My 02 Sport Edition

Hi Everyone,

After 4+ years of partnership, we're departing, the 4Runner and me. I have an 02 SE 4WD Thundercloud Mettalic with 43k on it. Love the truck in and out. However, we're selling it to buy my wife a new vehicle. I wonder if you guys can give me an idea of how much should I ask for it(or should I sell it for)? Dealer would LOVE to have me trade it in but I won't get that much for it, though.

The pictures are the original ones and mine are exactly like that.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't get it, that is a new vehicle.

I am seeing 4Runners like that with $22,000 asking prices and sale prices around $19k.

Use KBB and Edmunds to get an idea. Value depends on where you are. I bought the exact same truck, color and all, last April w/ 54k certified w/ the Toyota platinum for 21k. Now that 4th gens are more available used mine is worth probably 18-19 on a dealer lot, maybe 16-17 private party.

Hi All,

I live in lincoln, NE and mine is the ONLY one in town with about 240,000 people. I feel special driving it since no other ones with the year and color plus the PIAA headlight and foglight.

I checked KBB and it listed retailed for $20.3k, Private for $18.3k and Trade-in for $16.6k. I'm OK to trade it in for 16.5k-17k consider that I will save 7% on taxes toward my new vehicle BUT it is hard to deal on new vehicle if you have the trade-in attached.

The truck is in GREAT condition. I do all the works (oil changes, sparkplugs, Engine Coolant, clean, wax) and the ball joints replaced @35k by the local dealer (recalls form toyota).

Anyone live near-by wants to buy it?

THX.

[EDIT:] One way to get a feel for what similar 4Runners are selling for, is to look on Autotrader.com. Do a search for a 2002 4Runner 4WD, but seach nationwide for them and do not type in a price limit. This way you can see what other 4Runners nationwide are going for. Remember this method is just to get a feel for what yours might go for. "Might" being the key word here. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, I'd say high teens too...but then again it depends on what other 4Runners in your area are selling for.

Here in AL, that truck could sell for $23k and up. (Trust me I know. I see a lot of '01-'02's sell for that much and more w/ low miles. That's why I had to buy mine out of state.) I bought the exact same model 4Runner as yours bone stock this past April from a dealer in NY and paid $19k even for it...and it only had 22,000 miles on it. The original tires were still on it and even had the "tire fuzz" still on the outer part of the tread. I wore that off just driving it back to AL.

Good luck on the sale. Hate to hear you're selling it though

dont tell em about a trade-in until you set a price for the new vehicle.
if you could get 17K+ on a trade, id consider it...then decide not to sell it

Why not just keep that? Or does the wife wear the trousers when it comes to money spending?
