MOre Flex?

Hey everyone so my cousin and i are planning a trip to go to bald mountain this weekend and we were discussing the flex issue of my runner...he suggested possibly disconnecting the rear sway bar....does anyone have any comments or suggestions? thanks for the help

your not going to flex much more without the swaybars becuase you have stock suspension now and i bet your cone bump stops are a good inch away from your axle... so the only realistic way would be to get a lift or level it out a little bit.

i have 3" spacers on the front and 3" OME coils on the rear... So my stock suspension is altered... so now will i get more flex if i take them off you knowing that i have that lift now?

pulling the sway bar will give you a lil more flex (not much tho)

it will give you more flex... but it will have more body roll. as long as you dont drive like its an F1 car you'll be fine.

Ditto, I broke both my front and rear sway bars, and I have been driving with a broken one for months now, and a the broken front one for a few weeks.

More body roll, but if you drive it like its a truck your fine.

Front should have two bolts on each frame rail that hold the bushings and sway bar, then the part that connects to the a-arms you can either just take the top bolt off and let the ends hang, or try to take off the bottom bolts with an impact wrench. Mine spun free in there, and would only come off with high speed gun.

coil spacer dont give you much flex considering your spring is still the same length so it will still only compress the same as before. it you want more flex go the a junkyard today get a pair of land cruiser springs and put them in. they are like $50 and flex like crazy.

I would ditch the spacers for sure, i have ome spings under mine and it still lacks the flex i WANT but has enough for an ifs rig. If u really want more flex i would sas it. That is the plans for mine i just need to find a second vehicle for a while

Did you notice little flex in the front, back or both? Remember IFS isn't going to flex like a solid front axle especialy if the SA has front swaybar discos. I wheel with my sons. One has a Jeep TJ w/discos, the other a 2nd gen Xterra (IFS) and my 4runner. The Jeep flexes like crazy and crawls (open/open)thru stuff that we have to lock diffs to get thru. If your wheeling with SA guys you will be lifting wheels where they just drive thru.

PArt of your problem as well is the jeeps modded compared to the grocery getters, bigger tires (mud terrains)! No offense, but there are some simple things to do to get a little more! Granted nothing like a SA but better then stock.
Nice rigs BTW, love the jeep and the new runner!
I can get the top of this rock no problem this is with the sway bar connected and rear bumps havent been cut yet so theres more room for morew flex and the front is getting loosened up a bit for more flex till I do my SAS!
That rock is 33" as I approach its striaght up almost and even with the tire a bit above at highest point and the rear still had a bit as did the front til it even began to lift a tire. Not bad, good for now!!!!

You say you have 3" OME rear coils. Are you talking 891s? I had 890s and it would flex enough to put the axle on the bumpstop (the outer one not the conical jounce bumper in the spring). I now have 891s and have about the same flex in back.

I have fj80 coils from a 91 LC, BJ spacers and a semi relaxed torsion bar. I have to lower the front diff due to 1/2 shaft grab (noise) this week and Ill relax them a bit more Im doign a rear bumper full size tire to level it as well as I need a place to put a tire and Im not personally a fan of the roof. 85-100+ lbs way up high, nothanks!
