there is tons of play in it, anybody ever replace one of these? I have an 84 pickup with no power steering; any tech tips would be appreciated and especially a good source to find this part would be good, I live in southern california. I have a feeling this is one of those parts that its a generally a waste of time to look for at the pick a part, or maybe not. Can they be rebuilt?

where can you find rebuild kits for the gear box and the PS pump?

I'm a noob to 'yotas, but I had an 84' Dodge Ram that had the symtoms you describe, it ended up being a crack in the frame where the steering box mounted...

 

YGM, btw I forgot to add I have hte 3vze 4x4 on my 2nd gen...

I have found several sites w rebuilt steering gear boxes for $175-185 but have not yet found a rebuild kit available
