Magnaflow for 3.0

I tried the glasspack route and thought it sounded great, but my wife is complaining it's too loud.

Which Magnaflow is the quietest? (20" seems to show up most often on a search.)

Got a part number?

Should I go ahead and do a 2.25 cat-back while I'm at it or does it make any difference?

Any other suggestions while I'm in it this deep?

Thanks!

Look under tech. There are exhausts and sound files so you can get an idea.

I don't see anything under tech other than Borla.
I have been to Corey's page with sound bites, but most of the submitters go for the louder 14" Magnaflow or similar other brands. There has to be someone out there like me who wants a better performing exhaust but without the noise.

I am still waiting to hear back from TStango (check your PMs) since he swapped out the 14" body one for the 24" one.

When I hear back from him, I'll update my exhaust page with the part #s.

And yes, do go for 2.25" tubing from the cat back.

Mike (smr4runner) also is running the 24" Magnaflow on his 3.4.

The exhaust page I have listed above is linked on the "YotaTech on the web" page that is linked on the main forum page.

My page has been updated with TS's part # for the 24" unit.
Use the email feature here to contact him.
I think he has the PM setting turned off for email or pop up notification.
That is how I got in touch with him.

I had also emailed MagnaFlow.

I've got a '95 4Runner with a 3.0 V6. Yes, it's underpowered and I tried putting a cheapo glasspack (30") on it, much to my wife's
chagrin. Well it's too loud for her and she wants her stock muffler back. I like the little bit of extra pep the glasspack gives it. What would you recommend?

2.25" inlet & outlet
Quiet as stock if possible (or quieter)
Free flowing

Thanks!
Joel Gilbert

12245 is the muffler that I would recomend for your truck. Alot quieter yet no loss of performance. Thanks

I'll get one ordered. Maybe I can even get a mp3 made to add to Corey's website.

Lee, I think I paid around $200 or more for my 2.25 catback setup with the Magnaflow 14" body muffler a few years back.

That was of course including the labor at the shop to fab up the setup.

And it is still like music in my ears everyday I drive it

I paid $79 for the 14" aluminized body and then $89 for the 24" one.

I am very happy with the 24" Magnaflow and highly recommend it for a cheap performance/sound upgrade.

I especially love when I use my remote car starter and I can hear the mellow rumble of the 4Runner from inside the house.

Check out the audioclip on Corey's exhaust page. The 24" clip begins with a warm start idle followed by a few blirps of the gas and then I put it in gear and rip down the driveway(short down hill driveway) and finish the clip by backing up the driveway to the start point. I'll snap a few pics when I get a chance.

Thanks again Corey for posting it.

I got that Magnaflow installed today. Boy is it quiet. Y'all that are getting tired of the drone should switch. I'll try it out a few days and report back.

I paid about $300 for my 14" Magnaflow and Custom 2-1/4" Cat-Back system. I probably could of gotten it done for less, but the shop I went to has been in my town for over 20 years with the same ownership, so I made a guess that they do good work And I definitely won't hesitate to go back there when I get a new exhaust put on my Xterra

Hi flips4runner.

What year is your 4runner? Do you have a sound clip?
Above your description of sound is what I want for my ride.
