Talking Look what I scored at Pull-n-Save

Taurus electric fan for $13! It's going in the pickup sometime next week.
I'm going back tomorrow to pick-up some other parts on the cheap

Just thought I'd gloat a little

Way ahead of you, Jim. Read your post yesterday about you needing one. Pull-n-save only had 1 Toyota pickup. No 4Runners old or new.
I'll be taking a trip to YotaYard next week. He's got a couple 3rd gens on his lot. I'll poke my head in them and see if they have any switches.

Great minds think alike. The e-locker that I thought I had turned out not to be a locker, so I am in that market too. In fact, I e-mailed Nancy @Yota Yard literally minutes ago looking for one. Thanks Man!

You rock, that's awesome. Sounds like the Hilux is coming together nicely. Let me know if YotaYard has any full e-locker setups running around over there, might be time for a refit on the 2001.

I think most of the guys have been using the fans from a Taurus with the 3.8L V6 in it.

Yup. The fans on the 3.0 have an obcenely sized motor that would interfere with the belts.

I went back today to take advantage of a weekend special. I scored a pair of seats from a 2nd gen Tercel for $13. There are in awesome shape. Now I have to fab something up to make them fit.

Those have to be more comfy than the original Hilux seats. I'm sure the fabric is a big plus as well.

I got a 2 speed Ford fan for $10 at A-1 here in town. That fan came in Sables and a handful of Lincolns as well, all with the 3.8 V6. When you open the hood and see "3.8 V6" in giant font staring up at you from the top of the motor, you know you have the right donor.

The cheapest new mechanical clutch I could find was something like $70 or $80 from AutoZone. Save $$$ and gain a tiny bit of performance at the same time, Go electric!

I was going to ask if the taurus fan was a brand or out of... Now i know it comes from a 3.8 V6 ford but i have a few more questions...namely what do you do about a thermostat switch for the elec. fan, fuse size and so forth... how to wire it would be nice to know too... thanks for the help Aviator.

Found a tech post!

Hey guys I found a tech post that answers some questions but I'm wondering if the ford factory thermostat switch would work in this application? If it is adjustable it should work but if it is fixed I would guess not...anybody got any input? aviator
