Hey everyone, I just brought home my first 4runner.

97 limited 4x4 with locker and leather seats. Well the front seats feel super dry and the passenger seat looks like it has a tear or two in it. I did some searching on this board and it looks like Lexol is the cleaner/conditioner of choice around here. If someone has another recomendation I am all ears.

Also, has anyone used that leather repair stuff for cracks and tears?

 

Here is an awesome tip... something I never would have thought of until I started browsing the Autopia.com boards. These people are car care freaks!

Pickup some woolite laundry detergent at your local store along with a spray bottle. Dilute the woolite with 6 parts water. Spray down your seats and allow the solution to sit for a minute. Proceed with a bristled brush (the kind you might use on fingernails in the shower, for instance). Scrub vigorously. Dip a cloth in water and wipe the soapy residue off of the seats. Finally, wipe off the excess moisture with a dry towel. You would not believe how much better the seats look. All that dirt caught in the creases will dissapear, making cracking/creasing much less apparent. Now apply a leather conditioner of your choice and you are good to go (I recommend purchasing from www.zainostore.com). Smells awesome!

 

I use the 2 step meguiars (sp) stuff that works fine for me

 

What does having a locker have to do with having leather seats?

I've been using the Lexol™ cleaner and the conditioner for many years. Our local Mercedes dealer also uses it on their cars.





The cleaner is in the orange bottle/jug and the cond. is in the brown bottle/jug. I haven't tried the spray version yet or the new wipes.

Pep Boys. They have them for around $8(?) bucks.

Lexol conditioner is the only leather product I've used in the past. I still use it on the LC. It works great.

 

i use lexol for the 300zx. it's great stuff.

yeah... I just went to the dealer and asked what they recommended. They pointed to the Lexol on the shelf, so I bought it. Seems to keep the leather soft and nice.

 

Wood is good, my motto, hehe.

 

Lexol is the best leather stuff ever! If you're too cheap for Lexol, woolite + warm water is about the next bst cleaner.
Short of ordering Lexol, or paying out the arse from a Toyota/Lexus dealer, Meguiar's 2 part cleaner/aloe is the best over the counter you can find anywhere. (Tho it's still not Lexol!)

FYI For $15-20 you can by Lexol in gallon containers isntead of the 12oz spary bottles for $8-10! I'm on my second pair in 4 years for the lex LoL!
