You get what you pay for it seems.

I don't think out of business, just having website/1-800 # problems...at least that is what I read on Pirate.

Not out of business, just re-doing some things.... Keep trying it is a great product. I had can-back one for a couple of years and it held up very well.
adios

I've run a Kayline (now Specialty Top) for years. Paid about $125 (used). Works fine, vinyl does get a bit stiff when cold, that is about the only downside over the Can-back:

you get what you pay for.the can back is made of canvas, and most others are mad of vinyl.I also think the can back would fit better,be quieter, and warmer in the winter months.

While the Canback is indeed canvas and the Kayline (STC) is vinyl for the field, both use clear vinyl windows, that is the weak point of either top, it is hard to keep clean, scratches easily and gets brittle in extreme cold. Plus neither top is secure.

My Kayline fits fine and is quiet and warm enough. It has been on year round for about 5 years now (too lazy to swap it for the hard top), winter and summer:

I'm planning to put the hard top back on, cut out the sides and fit an aluminum frame and hinged side window into the opening, keeping the operating rear glass window.

Can back seems to be going out of business. My experience last week was, I ordered a Can back top Dec. 23 2004. I called the phone # they posted on my credit card statement and spoke to a rep, he said they would reimburse me my $ due to financial problems. I have yet to see the money.
I now will call my credit card company & have them chase the $.
I am not happy with the customer service with Can back!
They might sort things out and begin making tops again.

Just My experience,

Espi

They're not out of business, they just haven't returned a phone call in a year

Top notch product, just don't try to buy a replacement part.

So if you are willing to wait for an undisclosed amount of time and deal with questionable service, in order to get a top quality product, then go for it
