K&N or True Flow?

Since I did a search on K&N, I think I know the answer to question #1.

1. K&N or True Flow? Whats the difference?

2. Where to buy? I see may references to individuals here but can't seem to find them or their sites.

K&N is readily available locally, True Flow would have to be mail ordered.

Doesn't matter....don't buy the K&N unless you want to pick up a few spare MAF sensors locally too.

Second that, my K&N threw a CEL and even after cleaning it, it's still on.

Not really, other than the True FLow seems to be the one of choice here and Amsoil tends to get lots of my money anyway. Need to spread the wealth around

There also has been mention of it not fitting correctly. Loose.

Fair enough, however reading some of the other threads here, it seems like the problem was more of an issue of not applying the oil correctly.

By the way, K&N brings up nothing in the search. I went searched on "filter" and went through the messages. Many had K&N in the subject, but the search did not pick them up.

Try it!....and don't forget a family-pack of MAF sensors to tide you over til your next oil change.

The search function has been toast on this board for a while now, pretty much hit or miss searching acronyms.

Geez I have a K&N drop in but why would this cause a CEL? I have K&n filtters on all my other cars for so many years and never had a problem...Breaks my heart.

The reason it will throw the CEL is because of oil from the filter coming off and covering the MAF. Trueflow flows better and you really dont have to worry about the oil problems.

If you don't have a MAF sensor, you won't have any issue running a K&N filter.
Many people with 2nd gens (uses an AFM) or earlier run them just fine.
