Just brought home a 2002 D Cab TRD :)
I picked up my new to me 2002 Tacoma D. cab 4x4 TRD edition last night... So far I LOVE it. I drove it home from Fredericksburg VA last night, 114 miles on a FULL tank, topped it off this morning with 5.010 gallons, works out to 22.7 MPG... Not too bad though I was cruising 60-65 with the cruise set the entire time. It does need tires, 3 of them are Continental's that have good tread and the pass front is a BFG, they said it had a gash in the tire that held air but wouldn’t pass inspection and the Conti's are not sold anymore... Other than that she has 75,000 miles, all service history including dealer oil changes every 3500 miles from new, clean car fax etc., it also has a new battery and windshield. I bought it from Rosner Toyota with a warranty, I’m super happy with it. They pulled it in the shop last night and let me put it up in the air, NO rust, it doesn’t look like it ever really saw rain, and the decals and bar codes stickers are still on the frame and components... It has Tokico shocks; I thought it would have Bilsteins unless they were replaced. Is there anything I need to look out for, check or replace? My dad has had an 02 TRD taco ex. cab since he bought it new in 02, I helped him install new shocks on it and have helped out with a few things over the years so Im at least familiar with it… Ill miss my 88 when its gone but I have to tell you, the D cab is pretty sweet

I know, I know, I guess technically I never left; I do still have my 88 pickup and my 99 Rav4L Both are getting ready to be sold though, Im out of room!! I know Im going to miss my 88, but the D cab is sweet!
I drove the whole way to the other side of Richmond VA " 155 miles each way" last Saturday morning to finalize the sale of the Frontier and it was a rusted out mess and to add to that anger it was described with a rear locker, height adjustable seat, CD changer audio and 16" alloys, it had none of those things so I walked away angry... but relived at the same time because I had really been looking for a Tacoma D cab, they are just hard to find in this area with under 100k and no rust!
I couldn’t be happier with it and my fiancé is happy that I got something with 4 real doors, not the half doors of the 08 taco that we looked at a couple weeks back! She was actually pressing me to buy a new 2011 4 door Tacoma, I personally don’t like the look and size of them, and the thought of a $500 a month car payment for 5 years makes my balls hurt!! She hasn’t seen the 02 yet, but it’s a done deal! Pictures to come, I took some in the parking garage at work today with my camera phone but they came out really bad….

I agree about the running boards, but at the same time my dads 02 has almost no paint left in front of the rear wheels from rock chips, my truck has none so at least they are protecting the paint from daily abuse! They are FUGLY though....

Im trying to find some new Toyota wheels, either 4Runner, 05+ Tacoma or FJ C. stock alloys, I hate the stock Tacoma wheels that are on it!!
