I searched and found confusing and sometimes conflicting results so I was looking for a deffinate answer...
Do you replace the 4Runner coils in the front and rear with the FJ80 coils or can you only replace the rear 4Runner coils with FJ80 coils?
Thanks I was at the junkyard down the street last weekend and they had 5 or 8 FJ80s on their lot so if I could replace both the front and rears with fJ80 coils that would be great.

 

You use the front coils off the FZJ80 for the rear of the 4runner. The front of the 4runner is coilovers.

 

ok thanks I guess it would of cleared up some confusion after I got to actually looking at them ... so FJ80s dont have coilovers in the front then just coils?

 

They have a solid front axle, we have IFS. That's why everyone uses the Tundra coilovers.

 

gotcha so for a cheap front lift you can use tundra coilovers do they net about the same lift hight as the LC Front coils?

 

They tend to be just slightly shorter, 2.5" if i remember correctly but it makes for an ideal stance for off road.

Grab the rear shocks as well. People will tell you that they're too long but I love the way mine ride and they give decent flex.

 

how much lift do you get putting fj80 front coils on the rear of the 4runner?

off of the FJ or Tundra? do they have the threads at the top or do you have to make an adapter for them?

 

It depends on the coils, some give more than others. If you do a search there is a thread that has the coil color codes and explains everything. Mine are 9.25 wraps and give me about 3.5". And yes, the rear shocks.... I think they were rears. They were a straight bolt up so they had the stud on the top.

Google Tundra TRD 4runner lift, or somethin like that. There is a thread that explains all of the nitty gritty. I havent looked at mine in a long ass time.

I think all I extended was the brake line but I don't remember for sure.....

 

If you want to get it all put together for you with shocks, look at Sonoran Steel 1 series kit. I've had it for 3 years and love it. It uses the aforementioned coils with Bilsteins and all the bracketry, brakelines etc needed for the lift.

 

YAH , all I added was a 26" brakeline. I never did the drop bracket , but also never had any problems.
