ISR Mod DONE!

Was planning on doing ISR and DP mod at the same time. But I seem to have a hard time finding a jigsaw.

I did the ISR mod. Got a C Clamp to hold the filter in place with the lid open. This thing sounds M-E-A-N! cant wait to do the DP mod, with a DP thats too big

Im not sure whats going to be funnier, the fact that a 4Runner's $40 intake system will be louder than any of hte AEM's on the rice burners in the parking lot, or the fact that this isnt even my vehicle...

ok, what exactly is the ISR mod? I've head about it but never figured it out. Can you do it on late model trucks too? I have the deckplate already but the ISR sounds like another mod I need!

Look here, or in the Cheap Tricks section of TTORA to find one for your vehicle. It basically removes the intake silencers.

The ISR worked wonders for my Runner. The engine seems more alive, and wayy meaner than b4; WATCH OUT YOU RICERS!

It should be the same as the 4runner from Dr.Z.

BTW I will be stopping by the muffler shop tomorrow to get the correct size pipe.

I got a 2.5" pipe expanded to 2.75", cut to 5.75" long. Works PERFECT.

I took mine out. It was annoying at times cuz it's too loud(freeway cruising) without any significant increase in power...I do put it on from time(takes 5mins) just for fun. Funnest part for me was doing the mod

I dont know...I was driving today witht he airbox open and the ISR. Dosent seem loud enough for my taste. Then again I grew up around Sport Compacts, so my opinion is a little different.

I just put the TRD SC'r on, and with the ISR mod I can hear a really cool whistle/whine just off idle. I could not hear that on the donor vehicle equipped with the stock intake system.

BTW, my deckplate is closed now due more than enough air.

Mark (midiwall) has a good explanation as to why the ISR mod helps a little. Basically, it just plain old volumetric efficiency. In other words, when your engine goes for a big gulp of air, it has less "containers" to empty in order to meet the demand. I think I just said that right...

I know people take alot about the ISR mod and how great it is. I did it and I did not notice too much of an increase in power, but an annoying increase in highway noise. city driving is not an issue.
Even with all of the ISR and adding a high flow filter and the deckplate stuff done, you are still only getting the airflow that the MAF is letting through. no matter what you open up, you will only get so much air increase.
I did open up too much of the deck plate, and I need to close that all off, it will make the intake a little quieter.
