inner CV leak... Heard a clink while driving...
I recently got a 2.5" lift all around and installed a 1" diff drop and got an alignment today. I was a block away from my house... windows down, stereo off... it was nice and quiet... while driving straight at 25mph, I hear one clink, sounded like metal wasn't very loud but it was dead quiet.
Anyways I get home, look under the truck and I see some white/yellow grease spattered... It came from the passenger side inner CV, on the small end of the boot. I can wiggle the end part of that boot. The boot itself doesn't has any leaks... I confirmed that it is leaking from the clamp... Anyways... I just zip tied it tight for right now... I am sure the noise came from this axle/cv, did the clamp fail and cause the clink sound or is there something wrong with the axle? The grease that came out was nice and clean, no debris or dirt on it either... If it is just the clamp, do they sell some special cv boot clamps or should I just use some hose clamps. The zip tie I used didn't tighten it stiff, I could still wiggle that end of the boot, but I didn't remove the old clamp yet.
What do you guys think?

probably just the clamp let go, search around and you should find some solutions to your dilema. iirc, youre not the only one to have experienced this so there should be info somewhere on here. the gear clamp would more than likely do the trick, just dont tighten it too snug or it will cut into the sleeve part of the boot hastening the demise of it.
