I'm Back!

Hey guys,

It's been awhile since I've posted...I've been workin my a$$ off and every day I'm not workin at Circuit City I'm either doin construction work or with my girlfriend.

Anyway, I should be able to swing some time to cruise the boards again and see whats been going on.

Nothing new here, the lift and tires were the last thing I did...however now I have to spend more money. :pat:

I need new shocks, been doing some research and have some questions.

I can get discounts through my dealer, however all they can get me are Racnho's. I can get Rancho 5000's for $40/ea. (I've heard bad things about these), I can get Rancho 9000's for $80/ea. (Only good things).

However, after talking to several people who have OME shocks...I am leaning towards those.

After looking at Mike's site (www.xtremeoff-road.com), looks like I'm needing a pair of OMEN98's for the front and a pair of OMEN72F's for the rear. If I went through him I'd be looking at $71.95/ea. Thats a pretty good midrange price based on some of the things I've been looking at.

Bottomline question is...are the 5000's even worth looking at? Are the 9000's better than the OME's? And which one do you think I should get?

Another question I had was where is the best place to get Bilsteins?

I am needing shocks that are really good on-road, that can absorb a bunch of little bumps and dips (some roads are pretty crappy around here) but can also handle gravel roads, dirt roads and minor-moderate wheeling, I'm not talkin rock crawling...just the occasional mudding/trailriding.

What do you think guys???

MAN I MISSED THIS PLACE!!

I'd personally go with the bilstines. Great shocks.

RS5000's are crap. I've heard this from every one that has had them. RS9000's are much better, but the best shocks that you can get would be gas charged shocks.

Where would you recommend getting the Bilsteins from?

How do they fair on the road and on minor off-roading situations? Pretty much, I just want as smooth of a ride on-road as possible without being crappy off-road. I dont do much serious crawling or anything so it would just be mudding and I'd like em to be pretty smooth on my dirt road and gravel drive. The stockers I've got now are gettin pretty rough and tumble.

Thanks for the replies, keep em comin!

If you do any sort of 4Wheeling I'd recommend SKYJACKER. It took me 3 months to decide which shocks I should get.

The Skyjackers are LIFE TIME WARRANTY, double the size of the Rancho's. And perform better. Plus they are made right there in the USA.

They will work with stock or 3" Lift.

I hear the 5000s are the same as the 9000s set to the middle setting. My 9000s are set to the middle setting. I like my shocks.

Thanks for the info guys!

For those of you with the Bils...how is the on-road performance?

My rig just doesn't feel solid at all goin' over bumps anymore...the whole thing shakes, rattles and rolls.

On and off road, Bils are my favorite thus far.

OK...now that I found decent pricing on the Bils thanks to Christians link ($239.80) I've narrowed it down to either the Bils or the OME's. I got a price quote from 4x4rockshop.com for 70/ea. on the OME's plus shipping.

So now I've got to decide whethers its going to be worth an extra 40-50 bucks to go with OME's over the Bils...hmm...decisions, decisions.

Lemme know if you have an opinion.
