I noticed while installing my new Billstiens, that I was missing one of my factory bump stops on the IFS. I've read some articles that mention poly, low-profile stops, but I can't find any specifics about them. Can anyone offer info on them? Are they a worthy upgrade? I have a stock-height truck with BFG ATs.

 

I've done them recently and owe Yotatech a writeup. The parts can be bought online. The ones I used are made by Energy Suspension. The part number is 9.9102. Here's a pic of the difference between the stock and the low pro lower stops:


These are a universal item (not Toyota specific). It took me an hour per side to switch these out. Most of the time was spent getting the old ones out. You need 3 per side (2 lower, 1 upper). They sell them per pair. Cost is about $24 for all 6.

14mm deepwell with extensions to take the old off (use breaker bar if stubborn), 9/16 deepwell for the new. I used a pipe wrench on the old bumpstop to keep them from spinning while I went at them with the socket/breaker bar. I ended up breaking one off (I'm in the rust belt - 10 winters for my '93 4R)

Glad I took the next few days off. I PROMISE to shoot a full write up to you Corey...before new years!!

 

I used 2 jacks to help with changing them out. Remove the wheel 1 side at a time to give room to work and flex the suspension. Basicly jack either the center frame section or the lower A arm to the limit of travel to hold the things still while you crank on the nuts. Lower one jack and raise the other as needed to put the A arms firmly against the stops or to make room to remove and replace them. 1 inch wood blocks between the arms and stops also helped cut down on the ammount of jacking needed.

Before I did this I completely removed the sway bar which probably made it a little easier. I don't miss the swaybar, it looks nice hanging in my shed.

 

You are right about the Bils. I'm driving the p/u as much as my Jeep GC these days.
