I purchased my 99 4runner back in may of this year. I got deployed in July to Qatar were I currently still am. I come back in a week and figured my stock 4runner needed a few goodies. My budget was originally $2000 dollars, but I kept seeing things I wanted, lol. I still have yet to purchase my wheels which are going to cost me another $600 bucks (5 of the ProComp 8069's). Unfortunatly those wheels are still on back order. Once they become available I'm ordering them. Anyways this is what I have at the house waiting for me right now.

SS 1.2 lift kit
Stubs HD-SKO rock sliders
SS front Shackle hangers
(5) 285/75/16 Dick Cepek Mud Terrain Tires

And of coarse I put togeather a recover kit;

And a few odd's and ends. Shackles, jack cover, etc

Just waiting to purchase the wheels now. I may pick up a set of spidertrax wheel spacers too.


Sometime early next year I think a supercharger will be in order

Sounds awesome. Alot like my build that is currently in progress. It is soooo easy to spend a ton of cash in a short amount of time once you've been bitten. I know the feeling of going over budget.

I have the same setup (SS 1.2, Stubbs HD SKO sliders) except I added in 5.29gears that are getting cryo'd and 35" Swamper Trxus MT's. Moto Metal 909's in 17X9. My truck came with a 3" body lift and I am not sure if I should lower it or just go with the 6" of lift. I've heard mixed reviews. I'll wait and see how it handles.

Post pics when you get it all done! I am curious to see your setup. I went with a 60" all cast hi lift jack and a black widow safari rack with the 20" extension. I'll mount the jack to the safari rack with the Defender mount kit. Check out that rack if you're in the market for one. Very reasonably priced and looks great!

Just one question...

Why SS shackle hangers? Stainless is more expensive, brittle and is harder to weld. I dont think it will hold up as well to all the pulling and such.

I like SS for a lot of things, but shackle hangers arent one of them.

Buying it is the easy and fun part. Installing it all and following through is the hard part. I see countless folks buy stuff and never install it or quit and sell. This hobby is not for the poor in spirit or wallet.

What you spent is but a drop in the bucket for your new found adiction, I mean hobby.

Installing it is half the fun IMO. I'm a C-17 Crewchief for the Air Force, so fixing/modifying things is second nature to me. I recently sold my STi and had countless days of work in that car. Anyone who is going to work on their 4runner, I highly recommend air tools, they make things so much easier.

Here is the link to the roof rack. Its only rated for 200lbs. though. But a little ingenuity and welding should take care of that. The only other rack I fell in love with is the Defender available at Off Road Unlimted.com But its over $460.00

Oh I like both those roof racks! As long as it doesn't cover the sunroof I think I just found the next mod for my runner, lol. Which model do you have? Do you have the reglar size or the extended size? Also did it mount to the factory roof bars pretty easily?
