I have a Sick Runner adn need some help
Hey all!! Long time!
Well let me start with what has been do to the runner since the last time I was able to start it.
Over the weekend I have to remove and rework the Pedal mount assy. becouse of a stress break on the clutch side. to do this you have to remove or slide bace the master cylinder for the clutch and brake. as well ass disconct some relays and push switchs under the dash. I removed and reworked the assy as need and reinstalled it. I have checked three time and all relaies and switchs that where unhooked are hooked back up, and the master cylinder are back in the proper places.
Now here is my problem. When I try to start the Runner it makes the clicking noise, I know what you are thinking but the battery is new today(2/4/03). and I have had the starter bench tested and it is alright.
Do any of you have any other ideas that I haven't thought of!
thanks!

Hey Matthew, you might have checked already but how about the starter solenoid? Is your Runner an auto? If it is, it might be the Neutral Safety Switch. My '87 did that and I had to slide the shifter from Park to L and back and sometimes it would start. Sometimes I would have to shift it into neutral for it to start. Just a thought. Let us know.

Nevermind on the NSS, I just noticed that you had to move the clutch MC...
On another note, where have you been? Haven't seen you on here in a while.

Between Work and the family I haven't had much time to play on the computer. but you'all should expect to see my new erar bumper and 35 on my runner by the first part of the summer.
I had thought of that But if the solenoid was bad it wouldn't make the clicking noise. right?

Yes it is possible for the solenoid to click. What is happening is the plunger is getting stuck on eroded contacts. This link may help if you rebuild your solenoid.

I just did that same job for a guy last week. You don't have the clutch saftey switch properly positioned to push in when the clutch is depressed. Try starting it while holding down the "clutch cancel button", then you will know for sure.

PhxTRDRunner Good thought but if that was the case then it wouldn't even click. beside I tryed the bypress switch and it did the same thing.
Well I got the runner working today, and now I feel really stupid... you all will never guess what the problem was??
The neg battery terminal was larger the the post on the new battery. I changed out the terminal and it started right up. Guess thats just one of those lessons that you have to learn on your own.
Thanks for all the good ideas guys that what I love about this board!
