Ply=how many plies are in the tire construction, more plies means it can handle more weight
33 x 12.5R 16LT

LT=light truck
just an FYI almost all tires sold nowadays are radial... very few are biasply as they ride like butt on the street

From: 100 miles offshore as much as possible, & Springfield Oregon USA
and the 285 is generally an inch narrower than than a 33x12.50
other things may be different too, you have too look up the spec for that particular LT and see what the ply rating is, the load range, heat range, etc... Tires aren't simple.
