How loud is the Airraid M.I.T.?

I am thinking about getting it for my Tacoma. I have a stock airbox with a K&N filter. I mainly want it for a little more airflow and to clean up the engine bay a bit. The only thing that would prevent me from buying it is if it's overly loud.

Anyone have it? If so, how does it effect mpg?

it is not that loud if you have a deckplate mod and put the cover on. it is noticably louder if you take the cover off. either way its a mod taht can be changed back and forth.

So it shouldn't be that loud with a stock airbox then?

It will not be loud if you keep the stock airbox. I have the door off my airbox, and its loud at WOT. If I stay off the throttle you can't tell. As long as you don't do the deckplate mod you will not notice the difference.

exactly. of course if you dont do the airraid mod w/ the deckplate mod then you may not feel that much of a difference either.

So removing the elbow doesn't make it any louder?

it is only noticeabley louder if you do the deckplate mod with the ISR not with the elbow mod. The elbow is barely noticeable

It is my understanding that you get the same benefits from doing the elbow mod as you do with the deckplate. Is this true?

yeah basically, but by doing the deckplate, it is a lot easier/quicker to restore the intake to 'stock' condition.
